We are a family business made up of two sisters, a daughter and a son.
Rebecca set up Cotswold Pilates in 2005 after a career as a psychologist working at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital where she specialised in helping people manage Chronic pain. "I had found Pilates tremendously helpful to my own episodes of back pain, and exercise has been demonstrated time and again to help our mental health as well as being vital to physical health. These were key reasons for my decision to train as a Pilates instructor." Rebecca's background in Health psychology gives her an unique understanding of the psychosocial benefits and barriers to exercising and how to help motivate clients to maintain their regular exercise routines. Whether you are pain free or struggling with the many impacts pain, or medical conditions have on our lives, she will work with you to help your body to work better and to feel better. Rebecca was first introduced to Pilates almost 20 years ago while living in New York, the home of Joseph Pilates himself, since Training with Body Control in 2004, she has taught both in the Cotswold and abroad while living in Jeddah and Riyadh In addition to being an advanced Body Control Pilates certified instructor, She is also a level 4 Low back pain specialist pilates instructor and specialist trainer in Osteoporosis and Pilates for the older person and has training in Hypermobility. Rebecca is also qualified in reformer and is a certified Barre Concept instructor. In addition she has trained in Pilates for the performance athlete specialising in Runners. Rebecca is also a Supervising teacher for the Body Control Pilates Association and regularly has pilates students observing and carrying out their supervised teaching in her classes.
Michele, joined Cotswold Pilates in 2014. Michele's background is medical, having worked for many years as a Speech and Language Therapist at the JR in Oxford specialising in adults with acquired disorders. Her background gives her an understanding of the rehabilitation process after life changing illness or accident and a wealth of experience in working with people to achieve physical changes. Michele was introduced to pilates 20 years ago which sparked a love of fitness, she now dedicates hours of her week to running. She is currently training for her second Marathon. In addition to being an advanced Body Control certified instructor Michele has trained in Hypermobility syndrome and is a specialist instructor in Osteoporosis and Pilates for the Older Person.
Daisy has nearly completed her training with Body Control Pilates and already holds a degree in Psychology and a Masters degree in Mental Health and Psychological Therapies. With this in-depth knowledge of the psychology of behaviour, she is well qualified to tap in to the mental as well as the physical elements of health and exercise. Her clients will therefore benefit from this as she will finish each class with 10 minutes of mindfulness and relaxation. We will keep you posted on her progress through the rigorous training to become a fully qualified teacher. Along side her Pilates training, Daisy writes psychology articles freelance and is an artist of contemporary paintings, She also enjoys attending her mother, Michele's Pilates classes and keeping fit.
Harry is midway through his training to become a Personal trainer. He is fitting this in around studying full time for his degree in Psychology. Harry has a qualification in Taekwando instruction and, as a child represented great Britain in the sport. He has helped set up the university boxing club where he assists in group training sessions. He has recently discovered ultra marathons and took part in his first one this summer in the Italian Alps. During the holidays when he is at home in the cotswolds, Harry works at the Gym at Soho Farmhouse. When Harry has completed his training he will offer local personal training sessions and when his mother Rebecca isn't teaching her regular pilates classes Harry will offer alternative classes.
